The Return of Trump

The Return of Trump

As Trump returns for another presidential term, his return has sent ripples around the world. Sheila Hendley a trustee of the World Prayer Centre shares a recent comparison between Trump and Jehu in the bible.

The trumpet of the Lord shall sound and he will be no more.

Words of a well-known hymn, and we know that Paul refers to the ‘last trump of the Lord.’

When we hear the word trump today, we think of the American President, and just like Paul and Jesus, he is a figure of great controversy, those who love him and those who hate him.  Since his first day in office, he has been systematically dismantling the ‘woke’ agenda, and yet Christians, instead of supporting him, a significant number of Christians are undecided.  Some site some of the things he has done in his past, and yet the bible makes it clear that we are not defined by our past.

Rabbi Jonathan Cahn has likened President Trump to King Jehu in the bible, so it would be good to look at the parallels in more detail. Watch the video on YouTube.

What is interesting is that the woke press in America have used some of the same descriptions of Trump and his inauguration, that biblical scholars used to describe Jehu and his reign.

Here are a few examples:

  1. We are told that Jehu came in like a storm with reckless abandon.  The New York Times headline that day was “Trump storms back.”
  2. Jehu states that he was appointed by God to be King to turn Israel back to God.  The New York Times carried the headline, ‘The Return of the King, Trump embraces the happenings of the throne.’
  3. Jehu rapidly set about purging Israel of its anti-God agenda.  The New York Times in an article used the word ‘purge’ five times in describing Trumps legislation, for eg. He purges wokism, purges the justice system and purges the LGBTQ agenda.
  4. The bible states that Jehu dismantled the house of Ahab with the sword which is always a symbol of God’s judgement.  At the inaugural state ball, Trump was seen holding a sword and he has set about dismantling the former government of President Biden.
  5. Jehu was feared by the opposition and Trump is feared by the woke agenda.  He has promised to bring in a new era.

Jehu had his flaws, and so does Trump, but he is the vessel that God has raised up at this hour and who are we to criticise God’s choice.  Whatever you think of Trump, our response is to pray for him.

We know that the only power that can save America and each of our nations, is God through His Spirit, but God has raised up Trump, using his energy and drive to provide a window in time for America to repent.

We, as Christians, need to embrace this opportunity to share the good news, lift Trump and all our leaders up in prayer and make disciples of all nations.

This indeed can be a golden era but only if we glorify God, so rise up Saints!  This is God’s time and we are His people, no longer the ‘chosen frozen’ – paralysed by fear but we are indeed more than conquerors!
