As the island of Tonga is hit by a tsunami and volcanic eruptions, the government have declared it as an “unprecedented disaster’.
There have been three deaths so far and rescue teams sent to the outlying islands have said most homes have been destroyed. Volunteers have been sweeping the main airport runway to allow planes to bring in drinking water and other supplies.
So, how do we pray for such devastating natural disasters?
Lord, we ask for your mercy upon the nation of Tonga. We declare that you are their refuge and their strength an ever-present help in trouble. We pray against any fear due to this disaster and ask for your peace, protection and provision. In Jesus Name.
Here’s some things to pray:
- For the rescue teams to be able to reach the islands to bring much needed aid.
- For those who may be trapped to be found.
- For God to comfort the families and friends of those who have lost their lives.
