Pray for the G7 Prayer Summit 2023

Pray for the G7 Prayer Summit 2023

World Prayer Centre has been praying for G7/G8 world leaders conferences has been for many years. It started when our good friends Pip and Pete Gardener came to Birmingham in 1998 to pray for the world leaders as they gathered in our city.

Tony Blair was our prime Minister and others included Jacques Chirac, Helmut Cole, Boris Yeltsin and Bill Clinton. As it was pre 9/11, the leaders freely wandered around the centre of the City enjoying the hospitality on offer with costs and security at minimal levels.

How different today, how more violent the world has become as power hungry people endeavour to take control of people and nations by force, financial restriction, intimidation, social media, cyber space and even war.

Unless you live in a cave on top of a mountain somewhere, you will know the enormous challenges our political leaders are grappling with day by day. Millions of displaced people on the move. Millions facing starvation, millions caught up in wars and the consequences of war. Millions living in unprecedented poverty. As an aside, I do wish our British politicians and leaders would stop using the word poverty when talking about people in this country. Yes we have great need and challenges and hardship, but it is not poverty as we see it in many places around the world today!

Once again, the G7 leaders from France, Germany Italy, United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Japan and the European Union will gather, this year in Japan to discuss some of the issues the world is facing at this time. Russia/ Ukraine, China/Taiwan, instability in the Middle East and across Africa, the global economy and environmental concerns. All of which, and more, affects the lives of everyone on this planet.

THAT IS WHY WE PRAY………….

We pray because it is our responsibility as Christians to do so. We pray because we love God and we love our global neighbours. We are commanded to pray for Kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful lives in all Godliness and Holiness. This pleases God who wants all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2)

On Saturday 20th May at 10 a.m. we are inviting you to join us as we pray for Father’s will to be done as these leaders are gathering together in Japan. We shall pray that the Spirit of God will be over and in the place they meet. That the decisions they make will not only be for the good of people everywhere, especially in places of conflict and great need, but conducive to the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because God is God of all the earth, we shall pray that even through leaders who may not know Him, ‘His Kingdom will come and His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven’.

We look forward to you joining us on Saturday, 20th May at 10 a.m.
