Pray for appointment of new Archbishop of Canterbury

Pray for appointment of new Archbishop of Canterbury

Pray during September for the appointment of the next Archbishop of Canterbury.

A number of us have felt a strong call from God to mobilise prayer for the Church of England and the Cathedrals in advance of the appointment of the next Archbishop of Canterbury.  We know people may wish to pray for the Cathedrals in other nations and denominations, but this is what God has said to us.  This is a critical time for the Anglican Church, and we are heartened by God’s desire to mobilise prayer in this way.

At this stage we want to ask you to pray: Repentance for any sexual sin, known or unknown.  Repentance for anything that has taken God’s place.  For the Crown Nominations Commission as they pray, reflect and nominate the preferred candidate to the Prime Minister. For the new Archbishop of Canterbury and their team great wisdom and authority to stand on God’s Word and be led by His Spirit.  Information about the Crown Nominations Commission Appointing a new Archbishop of Canterbury | The Church of England

We encourage you to be led by Holy Spirit and to remember we are praying FOR the Church and not judging or pulling down.  Proverbs 18:21 says “The tongue has the power of life and death.” So let us release LIFE as there is great power in us blessing what God is doing. Here are some scriptures we are using: Ephesians 1:15-23; 1 Timothy 2:1-4; Psalm 24.
