National Week of Prayer 6-14 September

National Week of Prayer 6-14 September

The National Week of Prayer (NWoP) is a nationwide invitation to pray, across churches, workplaces and communities, asking God to move powerfully across the UK. We are thankful for the new rhythm of annual national prayer this week has inspired among the Body of Christ, bringing so many of us together in a powerful show of unity. Jesus said in Matthew 21:13, “My Father’s house is a house of prayer,” and in John 17:21, He prayed that we would be one so the world would know He was sent by God. The NWoP is excited to be gathering across the country as one again this year from September 6th to 14th, 2025.

For nine days in September, Christians from all over the British Isles will gather to pray. Bringing together a whole range of denominations, the vision is simple, united, and national.

No egos. No logos. No brands.

Just bringing our nation before the Father.

Why should we get involved?

Many of us are already praying faithfully for our nation, but this is a unique opportunity to link arms with other parts of the Body. This is about joining in oneness with the Body of Christ in a nationwide wave of prayer.

Things change when we pray—and even more when we pray together.

Specifically, we are calling this the week of prayer because we believe this is a critical time in history. There is so much uncertainty, with war on the continent, political instability, and much social and economic upheaval. At the same time, research shows there is a real openness to the Gospel. Because something shifts when we pray not just alone, but in unity across the nation.

How to get involved

Step 1: Who will you pray with?

You could pray as a local church, but we’d love for you to join with others to pray too. Are there

churches, youth groups, or existing prayer gatherings that you could collaborate with? Churches may have existing services already happening during the week that they can repurpose to pray for the nation if they feel so led. By checking the existing schedule, you might also consider reaching out to existing events and offering support if you have worship bands or would like to attend as a church congregation to support prayer in significant places.

Step 2: When will you pray?

Pick a date and time between 6–14 September 2025, or repurpose existing church services, prayer or worship gatherings to pray for the nation.

Step 3: Where will you pray?

You could meet to pray online (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet) or in person. It could be in a church building, or it could be in a home or outside on the beach or in a city centre. It could involve worship or could be more of a prayer walk. Do whatever works best in your community.

Step 4: How can I register my gathering?

There is a simple form here to complete: www.nationalweekofprayer.uk/join-us. This helps build the national map of prayer, and you can also log your answers to prayer to help share what God is doing *(here)*.

Step 5: What will you pray for?

It might be helpful to think through what specifically you want to pray for. It could be young people, the government, or international issues. We are also encouraging people to pray into the different spheres of society, like media, education, and healthcare. You can then invite your networks to join and pray with you. We have created assets and resources that can be used here. And we’d love for you to share about what you are planning using the hashtag #NWoP25.
