A recent update from our guest global writers, Pete and Pip Gardner, gives encouragement for Christians to pray with faith and urgency for the nations. Their latest reflection highlights both the extraordinary advance of the Gospel and the growing need for prayer amid rising global tensions, which is also outlines in their recent book, “Praying for a world in crisis.”
One powerful testimony comes from the Sindh province of Pakistan, where mission teams travelled into remote desert regions to share the message of Jesus with unreached tribes who had never heard the Gospel. Over three days, hundreds heard about Christ for the first time, many responded in faith, and five new churches were planted. For believers around the world, this is a reminder that God is continuing to move powerfully among unreached peoples as the Great Commission advances.
Pete and Pip also reflect on the increasing instability among nations often associated with global conflict and persecution of the Church. Are the current geopolitical upheavals part of God’s restraining hand against a wider world war, and creating further opportunity for the Gospel to spread? Drawing from biblical examples such as 2 Chronicles 20, they encourage Christians to believe that prayer can influence nations and world events.
The call to prayer is both global and personal: to pray for peace, for wisdom among world leaders, and above all for the Gospel to reach every remaining unreached people group. In uncertain times, believers are reminded that God’s purposes remain unshaken and that prayer continues to play a vital role in His mission across the earth.
