Praying for King Charles III Coronation

Praying for King Charles III Coronation

Jane Holloway shares how you can pray for King Charles and the Coronation on 6th May 2023.

Over the last 70 years many Christians across the UK and in Commonwealth were led to pray for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for her reign, her Christian leadership and for her family. And we know how she valued and appreciated that prayer. Let us continue to pray for the House of Windsor, for God’s will to be done, as we, instructed in 1 Timothy 2:1 pray for ‘kings and all in authority’, approach the historic coronation of King Charles III and Camilla The Queen Consort on 6th May  2023.

In his Christmas speech King Charles said: “In the much-loved carol O Little Town Of Bethlehem we sing of how ‘in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light’. My mother’s belief in the power of that light was an essential part of her faith in God, but also her faith in people and it is one which I share with my whole heart” ..“Some years ago, I was able to fulfil a life-long wish to visit Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity. There, I went down into the Chapel of the Manger and stood in silent reverence by the silver star that is inlaid on the floor and marks the place of our Lord Jesus Christ’s birth. It meant more to me than I can possibly express to stand on that spot where, as the Bible tells us,  ‘the light that has come into the world’ was born.”

Let us pray for:

Protection over King Charles’ spiritual journey as he prepares for the Coronation: Coronation oath – The National Archives. (John 14:6)

Provision of God’s light to guide every aspect of King Charles’ life and for Camilla The Queen Consort’s spiritual walk and as she prepares to be crowned alongside His Majesty. (Isaiah 50:10; John 8:12)

Presence of God’s wisdom for the Privy Council ‘Coronation Committee’ and chair of the Executive Committee the Earl Marshal, the 18th Duke of Norfolk, Edward Fitzalan-Howard; for Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby; for the Dean and staff of Westminster Abbey. (James 1:5)

Power of God’s love to strengthen all family relationships in the House of Windsor; for reconciliation, understanding, forgiveness and clear communication. And for joy and salvation to be released over the House of Windsor. (2 Corinthians 5:17-19; Psalm 51:12)

Purpose of God’s will to be fulfilled for HRH Prince & Princess of Wales and their family: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis; and for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their family: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet; for Anne, Princess Royal and her family; the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and their family; and for Andrew, Duke of York and his family. (Psalm 33:11)
