What can you pray for at the start of the year? These are some of the prayer themes from our first global prayer watch of 2025. We prayed for spiritual awakening in Europe, the underground church in the Middle East and what God is saying with recent disasters.
It is always such a privilege to gather with together with other Christians and pray. On Saturday, we had our first global prayer watch and it can sometimes be hard to know what to pray for as so much is happening.
We started with the scripture Isaiah 60:1-2
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.”
We prayed for God’s light to come so that we may shine for Him.
Here’s what we prayed for:
Europe Crosswalk – William Porter was instructed by the Lord to carry the cross and walk the sign of the cross in every capital city of Europe. We have been praying for him since April 2024. We prayed for the places he is currently visiting Paris, Luxembourg, Brussels and Monaco.
Pray for the power of the cross in each city and nation. That this is preparing the way for a spiritual awakening in Europe.
Highway from Egypt to Assyria – Isaiah 19: 23. We know from our connections that God is establishing prayer groups, networks, houses of prayer on this highway which includes Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Israel and Northern Saudi Arabia. He is raising an army of end time intercessors praying into this highway.
Pray for God’s will and purposes to be done in His timing for all that needs to happen before Jesus returns. Pray for the underground church in these countries and for God’s Kingdom to be extended as many in the Islamic church are searching. Pray for God’s spirit and glory to rest on this highway.
What is God saying with recent natural disasters?
We heard about some of the major disasters in 2024 and the floods and fires since the New Year. Jeremiah 6:16-19 tells us that the Lord is calling his people to walk in the old godly way, but people won’t listen so God will bring disasters on his people, because they refused to listen to Him and rejected His word. Our God judges, but He also restores. When we don’t listen, he leaves us to our own devices.
Pray for people to have ears to listen and that they will begin to come back to the word of God.
Hollywood mocked God at the 2025 Golden Globes and less than 48 hours after, Hollywood was experiencing wild fires which have been devastating. What would help? Rain. They have had no rain for over 8 months.
2 Chronicles 7:13 – 14 says, “At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.“
There is hope. God will heal our land if we humble ourselves, pray, seek Him and turn from sin.
Pray for people to humble themselves and see that God is real and repent. Pray for all those affected by recent floods and the fires in Hollywood.
