Accelerated prayer momentum at the start of 2026

Jane Holloway shares all that is coming up at the start of the New Year. January 2026 is looking to have an increased prayer momentum.  At World Prayer Centre, we are delighted to partner with the following initiatives:

Across Britain Prayer Walk 2026:  Churches across the UK are invited to prayer walk their area between January and June 2026, rededicating the ground, the land to God. There have been many local prayer walks over many decades, but this enables prayer walking to be recorded especially in more rural areas.

Turn the Battle 21-13 January 2026 is a national call to three days of prayer and fasting from 21 – 23 January 2026, uniting the church across the UK and Ireland in a decisive spiritual moment. We’re rallying around three clear biblical themes: 1. A fresh commitment to prayer – seeking God with humility and hunger. 2. A fresh commitment to consecration – returning to holiness and wholehearted obedience. 3. A fresh commitment to bold living – courageously witnessing and living out the gospel with clarity and power. The main aim is to mobilise as many people to pray and fast. It’s about the whole Body humbling itself under God’s mighty hand and a committing to three days of contending prayer and fasting. Steve Uppal carries the initial vision and it is wonderful to see how many different church networks and streams – as well as organisations – have sensed this call and will be joining in.  Let’s publicise, stand with them and pray to see the battle won at the gate (Isaiah 28:6). Steve has done a helpful interview with the Evangelical Alliance. 10 minutes with… Steve Uppal – Evangelical Alliance.  Full details and great resources are on their website Turn the Battle.  (Facebook has videos https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=turn%20the%20battle)

5 January to 5 February 2026. The National Day of Prayer and Worship (NDOPW) is inviting Christians to join in a month-long prayer vigil to seek cohesion, revitalisation, and spiritual direction for 2026. The vigil is scheduled for 5 January to 5 February, Over the course of the month, Christians will have opportunities to join virtual prayer sessions each day, attend community-based gatherings, and connect with organised intercessory groups.
