Unprecedented Prayer and Fasting

Unprecedented Prayer and Fasting

It is so amazing to see that many ministries are calling people to a time of prayer and fasting. The momentum to go deeper in our relationship with the Lord is building as people are desperate for more of Jesus. Fasting and prayer is not just for the start of the year, it needs to be a discipline and lifestyle for Christians. Father always gets His Church praying before moves. So, let’s be expectant and watchful for the suddenlies!

Here are some of the calls that are happening.

  • Thy Kingdom Come thy will be done – 30 days of prayer and fasting (5 Jan – 5 Feb) called by the National Day of Prayer and worship.
  • Turn the Battle – 3 days of prayer and fasting (21-23 Jan) uniting churches across the UK and Ireland.
  • 11:11 Fast – Prayer Storm is calling a 40 day global fast during Ramadan praying for Muslims (17 Feb – 28 Mar)

Here in Birmingham, there are also calls for prayer and fasting.  The Bishop of Birmingham is calling for week -long prayers and fasting at key times this year.  Gas Street church has picked this up, and have called 21 days of prayer and fasting (12 Jan – 1Feb), praying for the Bishops and Birmingham.  Here’s some prayer points to join in praying for Birmingham:

MONDAY
God’s mercy on Birmingham and the region
 – That His grace would cover our city, healing wounds, restoring brokenness and bringing renewal to every community.

TUESDAY
That we would see our city through His eyes, loving its people with His compassion, and seeking its peace and prosperity

WEDNESDAY
That He would break the power of evil in Jesus’ name – Praying for strongholds to be torn down, for justice to prevail, and for God’s kingdom to advance in places of darkness.

THURSDAY
That God would raise up workers for the harvest – Asking God to call, equip, and send out many to serve His mission with boldness and joy across Birmingham and beyond.

FRIDAY
That He would bring many to faith in Jesus – Interceding for a fresh move of the Holy Spirit, that many would come to know Christ.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY
Over the weekend, let’s take time to pray in faith for the ‘7 mountains of influence’ in our city and region – Family, Church, Education, Government, Media & Communication, Arts & Media, Business. Pray that we would see God move powerfully within each of these spheres of influence, redeeming and restoring these areas in our society for His glory.
